For nature lovers who appreciate the graphic beauty and diverse landscape of the Namib Desert, but prefer to see it in comfort and style, Wolwedans Dune Camp is the perfect getaway. Nestled amidst the dunes in the heart of NamibRand Nature Reserve, about 80 kilometers southeast of Sossusvlei, the camp consists of seven accommodation units and the lapa area where guests meet for ‘sundowners’ and meals. The entire camp is constructed on wooden platforms and offers panoramic vistas in all directions, capturing the ambience of the desert in an intimate and memorable way.
Guests stay in comfortable tents furnished with standard beds, bedside tables and a suitcase rack. Each unit has a private wooden deck and an en-suite bathroom fitted with hot shower, washbasin and flush toilet. All tents and bathrooms are equipped with solar-powered lights.
The lapa opens out onto a wooden deck with a superb view of the surroundings and consists of a lounge, dining area (where three-course dinners are served) and open-plan kitchen. Spacious sundowner decks provide a relaxed atmosphere for exquisite stargazing. Accompanied by experienced guides, visitors are introduced to the many facets of NamibRand nature Reserve’s desert habitat with its manifold fauna and flora – walking or driving.
